Authorizing Instagram Insights allows brands to securely view your audience demographics, engagement metrics, and performance data directly within Aspire. This helps build long-term partnerships and measure campaign success — without requiring screenshots.

Because Instagram is part of Meta (Facebook), permissions for Insights are managed through Facebook’s system. This means your Instagram, Facebook Page, and Aspire must all be properly connected.

Don’t worry — we’ll walk you through it step by step.

Before You Start: Account Requirements

To successfully authorize Insights, you must have:

  • An Instagram Business or Creator account (not Personal)

  • Your Instagram is connected to a Facebook Page

  • Admin access to that Facebook Page

  • Access to the personal Facebook profile that manages the Page

If any of these pieces are missing, Insights won’t connect.

Understanding the Difference: Profile vs Page vs Instagram

This is where most confusion happens — so let’s clarify.

Facebook Profile (Personal Account)

This is your personal Facebook login.

  • Used to log into facebook.com

  • Has friends and a personal feed

  • Cannot connect Instagram Insights directly

  • Used to create and manage Facebook Pages

Think of this as your key that gives you access to manage Pages.

Facebook Page (Business Page)

A Facebook Page is separate from your personal profile.

  • Used for businesses, brands, and creators

  • Has followers (not friends)

  • Manages Instagram permissions

  • Is required to authorize Insights

Important:

  • The Page does NOT need to be active

  • You do NOT need to post on it

  • It does NOT need followers

  • It simply needs to exist and be connected properly

Think of the Page as the bridge that allows Instagram data to be shared securely.

Instagram Account (Business or Creator)

This is your Instagram profile.

To authorize Insights:

  • It must be set to Business or Creator

  • It must be connected to a Facebook Page

  • You must have Admin access to that Page

How Everything Connects

Here’s how the structure works:

Your Personal Facebook Profile → Manages → Facebook Page → Connected to → Instagram Business/Creator Account → Connected to → Aspire

If any link in this chain is broken, Insights will not authorize.

Step 1: Create a Facebook Page (If You Don’t Have One)

If your Instagram is not connected to a Facebook Page yet:

  1. Go to: facebook.com/pages/create

  2. Choose a Page type

  3. Fill out the required information

  4. Click Create Page

Once created, move to Step 2.

Step 2: Connect Instagram to Your Facebook Page

On Desktop:

  1. Log into Facebook

  2. Click your profile picture (top right)

  3. Switch into the Facebook Page you manage

  4. Click Settings

  5. Select Linked Accounts

  6. Click Instagram

  7. Click Connect Account

  8. Log into Instagram and confirm

Important: You must be viewing the Page — not your personal profile — to see Linked Accounts.

Why Am I Not Seeing “Linked Accounts” In Facebook?

This usually means you’re logged into your personal Facebook profile and haven’t switched to your Page view.

To switch:

  1. Click your profile picture (top right)

  2. Select the Page you manage

  3. Then go to Settings → Linked Accounts

You can only manage Instagram connections while viewing the Page itself.

Step 3: Authorize Insights in Aspire

Once your Instagram is connected to your Facebook Page:

  1. Log into Aspire

  2. Navigate to your Instagram connection settings

  3. Click Link Insights

  4. Log in through Facebook when prompted

  5. Select the correct Facebook Page

  6. Select the connected Instagram account

  7. Approve all requested permissions

Make sure you are logged into the Facebook profile that has Admin access to the Page.

Why Is Facebook Required?

Instagram Insights permissions are controlled through Meta’s security system (Facebook’s API).

Even though the data comes from Instagram, Meta requires:

  • A Facebook Page connection

  • Proper Page-level permissions

  • Authentication through Facebook

The good news:

  • We do NOT access private messages

  • We do NOT access login credentials

  • We do NOT post on your behalf

  • You do NOT need to actively use Facebook

The connection is strictly for secure access to audience and performance data.

Why Do Brands Need Insights Instead of Screenshots?

Insights provide:

  • Audience demographics (age, location, gender)

  • Engagement metrics

  • Reach and impressions

  • Follower activity times

  • Real-time performance tracking

This allows brands to:

  • Measure campaign success accurately

  • Build long-term partnerships

  • View analytics directly inside Aspire

Connecting Insights ensures both you and the brand have reliable, up-to-date reporting.

Still Having Trouble?

If you’ve completed the steps above and Insights still won’t connect:

Please send Support:

  • A screenshot of your Facebook Page settings

  • A screenshot of the Instagram connection inside the Page

  • Confirmation that your Instagram is set to Business or Creator

Insights require Aspire, Instagram, and Facebook to all be perfectly in sync, so sometimes we need to verify each connection carefully.

You’re not alone! This is one of the most common setup issues, and we’re happy to help you through it.
