Understanding Content Auto-Assignment

Content Auto-Assignment automatically assigns creator posts to campaigns based on signals like hashtags, keywords, and recent activity.

Creators often participate in multiple campaigns at once. Previously, when a creator posted content, Aspire couldn't always tell which campaign the post belonged to, resulting in unassigned content.

Content Auto-Assignment solves this by checking multiple signals in priority order. If a creator posts content and it matches a campaign hashtag, uses a campaign keyword, or shows recent activity in that campaign, the post automatically gets assigned.

How the assignment priority works

When a new post is detected from a creator, Aspire checks these signals in order:

  1. Hashtag & keyword match — Does the post contain a hashtag or keyword you've set up in a campaign? If yes, assign to that campaign.

  2. Single-campaign default — Is the creator only active in one campaign? If yes, assign to that campaign.

  3. Recent activity fallback — Which campaign has the creator been most active in recently? Assign to that campaign.

  4. Offer fallback — Is the post tagged with an offer? Assign based on the offer's campaign.

If none of these signals match, the post remains unassigned. You can then manually assign it or rerun automatic assignment.

Important notes

  • Manual assignments are not overridden. If you've manually assigned a post to a campaign, the auto-assignment feature respects that choice. Manually assigned content stays where you put it.

  • Hashtag setup. Hashtags and keywords are set in campaign settings. When you add a new hashtag to an existing campaign, it does not backfill to old posts — only new posts going forward will use that hashtag for assignment.

  • New posts only. Auto-assignment applies to posts detected after the feature is enabled, not to existing unassigned posts.

Setting up hashtag and keyword tracking

  1. Open a campaign and go to settings.

  2. Open Additional Settings.

  3. Add hashtags and keywords for this campaign under Tracked Hashtags and/or Tracked Keywords.

  4. Save your changes.

New posts from creators in multiple campaigns will now automatically route to the campaign with the highest-priority match. If you wish to re-run assignment on past posts, you can do so from the Content Hub.

Rerunning automatic assignment

If you need to assign existing unassigned content or reprocess content:

  1. Open the Content Hub.

  2. Select the Content you want to re-run assignment.

  3. Go to Actions (bulk actions menu).

  4. Select Rerun automatic content assignment.

  5. Aspire will scan unassigned posts and assign based on the current priority rules.

The system does not reassign content that's already been manually assigned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see if a hashtag or keyword is already used to another campaign, so they don’t create a duplicate?

Not today. Our system won’t stop you from reusing a hashtag across campaigns, and that’s intentional, since plenty of brands run the same hashtag in more than one place.

What happens when a creator or hashtag is in two campaigns at once?

Our fallback logic takes over. If there’s no single hashtag or keyword match, content goes to the campaign with the most recent activity, meaning the one where the creator was most recently sent a brief or took an action. So a creator in a years-long affiliate campaign who just got a summer brief would have that content land in the summer campaign.

Will content keep auto-assigning to archived projects?

No, archived projects aren’t factored in.

Does the system overwrite content a brand assigned by hand?

No. If you manually assigned a piece of content, that’s a deliberate choice and auto-assign leaves it alone even if you re-run the auto-assignment.
