Aspire’s integration with Meta goes beyond capturing mentions of your brand's handle on Instagram. It also gives you the ability to run Paid Partnership ads, capture ads data, and reach creators through IG Direct Messaging.

Below is an in-depth guide on how to connect your accounts to utilize these features.

Glossary of Terms

  • Instagram Professional Account: Professional accounts on Instagram can either be set to a business account or a creator account.

  • Business: The business page is where you can manage all your business activity on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram from one place within Meta Business Suite.

  • Pages: This refers to Facebook Pages you have linked to your Instagram Professional Account. You can share content, likes, stories, and posts through these pages. See this article for instructions.

  • Ad Accounts: When you set up a professional account on Instagram, you can run ads from your Instagram account and use Meta tools to create ads that appear on both Instagram and Facebook.

  • Permissions: To ensure that all reporting is accurate on Aspire, you must allow all permissions while connecting your Meta accounts. For more information on the permissions required, please see this article.

Prerequisites

  1. Your brand must have an Instagram Professional Account (Business or Creator account).

  2. Your brand's Instagram account must be connected to a Facebook Page. Please see this article for directions.

  3. To enable @ mention listening, you must have an Admin role and "Full Access" to the Facebook page connected to your Instagram account. For more information on how to view or edit your Facebook Page role or access, please see this article.

  4. To enable Ads Permissions for Paid Partnership Ads, you must have "Partial Access" to your brand's Meta Business Suite. See this article to change your role.

  5. To enable Instagram Direct Messaging, you must log in to your brand's Instagram account first and turn on “Allow access to messages” under Connected Tools. See this video for instructions.

How to Connect Instagram/Meta to Aspire

Once you have reviewed the prerequisites above and confirmed you have the appropriate role and level of access, check out the video below on how to connect your Instagram account(s) to Aspire. Or, keep scrolling for step-by-step instructions!

Instructions

  1. Log into Aspire and click your initials in the top right-hand corner, then select Integrations.

  2. Under Integrations on the left menu, click on Instagram (Meta).

  3. Click Add Meta Account then select Continue.

  4. You’ll be prompted to log in to your Facebook account or continue as yourself if you’re already logged in.

💡 Important: If you have already connected an Instagram account to Aspire before, please click "Edit Settings" before proceeding. If you are attempting to add additional Instagram accounts after previously connecting an Instagram account to Aspire, please follow these steps.

  5. Select the Instagram Professional Account(s) you wish to connect.

💡 Important: If you'll be connecting multiple Instagram accounts and your Instagram accounts are managed within the same Meta Business Account, it’s important to select ALL of the Instagram accounts you’ll be connecting to Aspire in this step. Once connected, please reach out to your CSM or our Support Team to help associate the correct Instagram accounts with the proper Aspire accounts.

  6. Select the Meta Business Accounts you wish to connect.

    1. If you don't see your brand's Business Accounts populating here, please ensure you have "partial access" to your brand's Meta Business Suite. See this article for more information.

  7. Select the Facebook Page(s) connected to the Instagram account(s) you previously selected.

  8. Please keep all permissions toggled ON for the integration to work properly.

  9. If you have not yet applied for Instagram's Creator Marketplace, you will be prompted to review and accept Instagram’s Creator Marketplace Terms of Service. Click Accept to continue.

Upon accepting the Terms of Service, we will apply on your behalf to the Instagram Creator Marketplace and grant you a temporary access token. If your account does not qualify for the Instagram Creator Marketplace based on Meta's eligibility criteria, your temporary access token will be revoked and you won’t be able to send project invitations through DMs. You can still use our Direct Messaging integration for responding to member messages and for IG story listening.

  10. You will then be redirected back to Aspire and should see your brand’s Instagram account(s) listed under “Connected Instagram Accounts”. We will enable @ mention listening for all accounts connected by default.

  11. To enable Instagram Direct Messaging, hover over "Inactive" under the Direct Messaging column and click "Activate" next to the Instagram account you wish to use. Currently, only one account can be used for Direct Messaging. If you see a yellow flag after clicking Activate, you can hover over the status for an explanation.

  12. Under Connected Ad Accounts, click Select Ad Accounts and choose the account(s) that will be the source of data for ad insights.

  13. Under Connected Business, click Select Business and choose the Meta Business account associated with your Instagram accounts to use for allowlisting. Currently, only one business can be utilized at a time.

  14. Once you see green check marks in every column as shown in the example below, you're all done! Great job! 🎉

💡 Enrollment in Instagram’s Creator Marketplace: Please note, your Instagram account must be enrolled in the Instagram Creator Marketplace to use Direct Messaging. If you are not enrolled at the time of adding your account, Aspire will apply on your behalf and you will receive temporary permissions to use the service until your enrollment request is confirmed. If your request is declined by Meta (see eligibility criteria in FAQs), your permissions will expire and you will not be able to send invitations through IGDM.

Connecting Multiple Instagram Accounts

If you'll be connecting multiple Instagram accounts, it’s important to select ALL of the Instagram accounts you wish to connect during the authorization process, along with the corresponding Facebook Pages and Meta Business Accounts.

Once connected, please reach out to your CSM or our Support Team to help associate the correct Instagram accounts with the proper Aspire accounts.

Important considerations:

  • You may connect multiple Instagram accounts for @ mention listening, but all mentions will show up in one dashboard.

  • Only one Instagram account can be selected to use for Direct Messaging.

    • The account selected for Direct Messaging is the one that Aspire will use for project invitations sent via DMs.

    • If multiple Instagram accounts are eligible for Direct Messaging, you will see the option to remove one account and select another.

  • You can only request Paid Partnership access from one Instagram account. The same account can be used on multiple Aspire accounts.
