What is an Instagram Collaboration Post?

You can use Instagram Collabs to co-author posts with other accounts. The creator of the original post can invite another account as a collaborator. If the account accepts the invite, their username will be added to the post and the post will be shared with their followers. It will also be shown on their profile.

Below is an example of an Instagram collaboration post.

How are Collaboration Posts different from tagging or mentions?

If someone tags or mentions you in a post, that post won't be shared with your followers. If you collaborate on a post, that post will be shared with your followers and visible on your profile.

How are Collaboration Posts Tracked in Aspire?

Here’s an overview of how collaboration posts are tracked in Aspire.

1. Tracking Collaboration Posts

Brands can create collaboration posts that tag both the brand and the creator (@brand and @creator). However, tracking analytics for these posts depends on who authored them:

  • If the brand posts the content and tags the creator as a collaborator, the post will only appear in the Social Analytics section if the brand has a member profile that belongs to a project or group. The analytics will then be reflected under the brand’s Instagram handle.

  • If the creator authors the post and tags the brand, it will appear in Social Analytics under the creator's Instagram handle as long as the creator is associated with a project or group.

2. Using @Mentions in Posts

To ensure that the collaboration is captured through social listening, the creator must @mention the brand’s handle in their post or caption, even when tagging the brand as a collaborator. However, if the creator uploads the post link via the brief, the @mention is not mandatory.

3. Post Assignment

When it comes to assigning collab posts in Social Analytics:

  • If the brand authors the collaboration post and has a member profile associated with a project or group, it will show under the brand’s Instagram handle in Social Analytics and cannot be reassigned to the creator.

  • While the brand can upload the post to the member’s profile in Aspire, it will remain associated with the brand’s social account.

  • Unfortunately, Aspire only allows for assigning posts to different projects or groups, not individual members.
