Date Filter Methods

Know the difference between different filter methods when viewing data in your reporting's Social Summary

Written by Christine Santiago

There are three types of date filters you can use in your Social Dashboard: Insights Date, Post Date: Lifetime Data, and Post Date: Current Period. Depending on how you want to see post data, you may use these areas differently to report on.

What’s the difference between the date filter methods

  • Insight Date: View impressions and engagements that happened during the selected date range, regardless of when the posts were originally published. This filters posts that still get impressions and engagements during the selected date range.

  • Post Date: Current Period: View impressions and engagements for posts that were published during the selected date range, showing only the activity that occurred within that same time period.

  • Post Date: Lifetime Data: View all-time impressions and engagements for posts that were published during the selected date range, including activity from their publish date through today.

💡 When filtering by Insight Date, posts published more than one year before the selected start date are excluded.

Which type of date filter do Social Summary and the Impact Dashboard use?

By default, the Social Summary and Impact Dashboard use Post Date: Lifetime Data as the date filter method. But you can always adjust this based on your reporting needs.

Why am I seeing posts that have gone live outside of the date range I selected?

When using the date range filter, if you only want to see posts that have gone live during that time range, you'll need to use Post Date: Lifetime Data or Post Date: Current Period instead of Insight date. Otherwise, we'll include posts outside this time range if they have garnered new metrics during the period selected.
